The 86th Annual General Meeting of the Association of International Accountants (AIA), the global body for professional accountants, was held on Tuesday 22 May 2018 at 6pm at The Wesley Hotel, 81-103 Euston Street, London, NW1 2EZ for the following purposes:
- To receive the Annual Report and Accounts for the year ended 30 September 2017.
- To elect Members of the Council.
- To appoint Auditors and to fix their remuneration.
The meeting successfully agreed all resolutions proposed and the following Council members were elected:
- Seth Ganu
- George Josephakis
- Gloria Murray
- Twaraq Oozerally
- Linda Richards
AIA President, Leslie Bradley, said: “Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s AGM. The last year has seen significant successes for AIA and we have been engaged with a wide range of stakeholders to progress the recognition of our members and to broaden the choice for students undertaking an international accountancy qualification.”
AIA Chief Executive, Philip Turnbull, said: “We understand the importance of increasing the recognition our members enjoy around the world and as we look forward to growing on the successes of the previous twelve months, whilst continuing our overall strategy, we remain committed to a successful application to the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).”
