A night of celebration as the Hong Kong accountancy sector witnesses continued growth, amid increased demand for consultancy services and a rise in IPOs. On the 15 March 2019 the AIA welcomed guests from the world of finance and accounting, including Guest of Honour, Dr P.M. Kam to the Craigengower Cricket Club for the Hong Kong Branch annual dinner.
It was an honour to welcome Dr P.M. Kam who is currently a Member of the Hospital Authority Board and Federation of Hong Kong Industries General Committee. Dr Kam was formerly the Chief Executive Officer of Financial Reporting Council and President of Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants. In addition he has also served as a member on a wide range of committees and boards.
The evening proceedings were opened with a congratulatory message from AIA Chief Executive, Philip Turnbull, in which he said: “It has been a pleasure to welcome all of our members and honoured guests for an evening of celebration.
“It is encouraging to witness the continued growth within the Hong Kong accountancy sector. Accountancy firms in Hong Kong plan to hire more qualified professionals this year to carry out traditional audits, amid increased demand for consultancy services and a rise in IPOs, as Hong Kong returns to the top of global IPO table.
“In addition, it is reassuring to observe positive growth signals for SMEs offering traditional auditing services.
“All of this bears testament to the ongoing enthusiasm, resilience and perseverance shown by our Hong Kong members and the wider accountancy sector within Hong Kong.
“AIA is immensely proud to have a long and successful association with this great province and we look forward to building on our strong foundations as we continue to create more world class accountants in Hong Kong well into the future.”
The evening proved to be another glowing success following in the footsteps of the 90th anniversary dinner last year.
Following the event, AIA Hong Kong Branch President, Dr William Ho, FAIA, said: “On behalf of the AIA Hong Kong Branch I would like congratulate the Executive Committee, Branch employees, and all of our members and students for continuing to make our annual dinner celebrations such a wonderful occasion.”
“The AIA has a long and proud heritage and within my capacity as Branch President it is reassuring to see that we continue to have so many fantastic ambassadors for the AIA in Hong Kong.”
